Dr. Steve Destler has never believed in rushed dentistry or one-size-fits-all solutions. With over two decades of experience and advanced training in oral surgery, he brings a level of expertise that makes even complex procedures feel seamless.
His journey to dentistry started early. At 12, he knew he wanted a career in healthcare, but the right path was not clear at first. He earned degrees in psychology, biology, and health sciences before finding his calling at NYU Dental School. Balancing rigorous coursework with hands-on training at Beth Israel Hospital, he developed the surgical skills and problem-solving mindset that define his practice today.
After 17 years in New York, he returned to California and built Great Coast Dental on the values that matter most—honesty, compassion, and quality care without shortcuts. He stays late for patients in pain, takes the time to explain options, and ensures no one feels like a number.
Dr. Vivianna Hewitt understands that great dentistry is not just about teeth. It is about trust, comfort, and knowing you are in the hands of someone who cares. She meets every patient with warmth and patience, making sure they feel at ease before she ever picks up an instrument.
Her passion for dentistry began in Chile, where she earned her first DDS degree before continuing her education at Loma Linda University. She later trained at UCLA in cosmetic dentistry, aesthetic restorations, and advanced prosthodontics, giving her the expertise to create beautiful, functional smiles.
For Dr. Hewitt, the best part of her work is the human connection. She loves seeing a patient’s confidence grow after treatment and values the relationships built over time. The team at Great Coast Dental shares her commitment to care that feels personal.
